Linux URL Handler

An Openplanet plugin for Trackmania 2020 that enables the use of the URL handler from linux, using a net socket to pass the call from linux to Trackmania running in the wine prefix.

Setup

Prerequisites:

• Trackmania & Openplanet running on Linux (Hopefully obvious)
• netcat

1. Install the plugin
2. Create a desktop entry

Create a file like this in your ~/.local/share/applications directory

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Trackmania URL Handler
Exec=sh trackmania-handler.sh %u
Terminal=false
NoDisplay=true
MimeType=x-scheme-handler/trackmania;

3. Create the handler script

Create a file somewhere on your system PATH (such as ~/.local/bin called trackmania-handler.sh) with the following content:

#! /bin/sh
echo $1 | nc -N -w1 127.0.0.1 2020

Depending on your distro, you may need to run update-desktop-database after creating the desktop entry, before the scheme handler starts working.
