Random Map Pace Challenge

Like RMC, but different. Play random maps, beat ATs, map length matters, skip at any time.

You can see it in action with a brief intro in this video by GranaDy.

FAQ

All questions are answered with AT run in mind, but Gold as a goal is possible as well.

What is the difference compared to RMC?

In RMC, you get one point (medal) when you get AT. Here, the score you get depends on the map length. This means that getting a series of short maps is not a recipe for winning.

In RMC, you have gold skips and one free skip. Here, you can skip as many maps as you want. However, each skip takes away from your remaining time, making the session shorter. This penalty varies - unfinished maps are most expensive to skip, and once you get gold they are almost free. Map length matters here as well.

Are there any rules?

Not really. Assume that everything from RMC applies, mostly concerning broken map skips (use the Broken button), watching records, etc.

How is the reward calculated?

The reward (the time you gain into your Score when finishing a map) is based on the map length and your finishing time. The maximum reward is gained when finishing at AT, and the minimum reward is when finishing at 0. Weird, right? This prevents very high gains on long maps with extremely easy ATs. It should however not be benefitial to wait - the gains flatten out over time and you could be playing other maps instead. For better picture, see this graph with a few example maps.
All gains are capped as if the map were a maximum of 3 minutes long (the free skip limit). There is also a bonus added for each map so that very short maps are still worth trying.

The possible reward range for each map is displayed in the plugin.

How is the skip cost calculated?

Skip cost is based on the time you drove (and the medals you already gained) and the AT. Unfinished maps are the most expensive to skip. The cost drops significantly once you finish a map and decreases further with each medal you earn. Once you have Gold, the skip cost is only the time you are missing to the AT.

Your finish status (unfinished / finished / medals) as well as the current skip cost are displayed in the plugin.

Can I filter the maps somehow?

Yes, you can enable custom map filters in settings and then use Random Map Picker plugin to set the actual filters. These runs do not count towards the leaderboards.

I found a bug, how do I report it?

You can ping me in the openplanet discord. Note that this plugin is using mxrandom to select random maps - you need to have that installed as well.

I found a way to cheat, how do I report it?

Unless it's a "cheat by accident", which is a bug, you don't have to report it. There are ways to cheat. If you want to use this plugin for a competition, require recordings from the winning players.
