Diegetic text is a means of displaying text or other information as a part of the work rather than as something overlaid onto it. In TM2020, this is perfectly illustrated by having a speedometer physically on your car's butthole, where a number plate would normally go.

Here, we use diegesis to display various Trackmania statistics as text relative to your car, moving and rotating relative to it as you race. This allows you to keep your focus on the car itself, rather than being forced to take your eyes "off the road" to look at your elapsed time. We also display information not easily accessible, such as tire icing (which is typically accessed via the Dashboard plugin or something similar).

DID features a large amount of customization, allowing you to select from a variety of "options" to display, as well as a simple API for other plugins to use. Hopefully this will allow you to set things up however you'd like, but if a feature or option you'd like is missing, feel free to get in touch!

I recommend installing MLFeed and MLHook, as several default DID items (such as race time and checkpoint counting) require them. If not installed, these will not be available.
